Knowing that the fans have more need of this motivation that athletes confirmed, which focused on their effort, eventually forget the music for the benefit of their mental strength. This is why the fastest runners on the marathon have never headphones, they are so trained that their own heart and respiration wear. 

Ban music in race has therefore no sense if it is to increase the safety of the riders, on the open road, as on closed road, the risk is lower compared to the benefit of the music.  The FFA did not rule against the music in competition. It is therefore rather the amateurs who should be worried about: running or pedaling on the road with a loud music would run faster but would put them in danger, because they would be less attentive to the movement. 

In any case, it's proven, fast music and catchy improves physical performance and prevents to feel fatigue, regardless of your musical tastes. So the gym, do you pleasure, and make your play-list, because in this universe closed, you are not likely to crush (except by a heavy bar), if you did not ask a partner to make sure you... or if it does not hear your calls for help due to the high volume of music under his helmet!
