If you are diabetic, to find the right balance between the food may be difficult. This article covers the different foods you need to eat and avoid when you have diabetes.

You must avoid


Avoid food rich in sugar, honey and artificial sweeteners. Use a sweetener alternative as stevia. Foods high sugar content include sweets and chocolate. If you need the occasional piece of chocolate (like most of us! ), and then try to eat Continental dark chocolate at least 75 per cent cocoa solids.



You must also avoid certain types of vegetables, including beans, parsnips, carrots and peas. All these are rich in starch. 

Avoid the types of grain, including pasta, rice, barley, corn, wheat and rye and the foods that contain ingredients which will end in ol or dare. This is mainly the types of carbohydrates.

You must eat

You must eat the food should be high in fiber. A diet rich in fiber is very important for diabetics. It is cereal, nuts, fruits, seeds and some vegetables. Fiber containing foods is good for diabetics it reduces the level of cholesterol and glucose.

You must also eat fruit which include grapefruit, peaches, the lime and the potatoes. Eating fruits and vegetables gradually throughout the day for your blood-sugar level would be leaping suddenly. You can also consume seafood of all types of preference: boiled, steamed, baked or grid - not fried.

Eat white meats such as chicken, fish and duck. Although you can eat lamb or beef once or twice a week. The eggs are fine for diabetics, but try to avoid the yolk. Cheeses are also fine outside of cottage cheese.
