The lifestyle
growing up, food was my friend. I had a bit of a childhood rock. My parents divorced when I am a little girl, my mother died when I'm 10 and I lived with my father and stepmother, who was extremely controlling. While I lived with them, my mother-in-law has kept a watchful eye on the parts of my food, so I stayed at a pretty healthy weight.
When I went to live with my grandparents, there were no rules on what I could and couldn't eat and my weight just exploded. I was eating whole bags of chips, pizza, ice cream and sandwiches loaded with cheese and mayo. I found myself eating as a coping mechanism to deal with all the drama of family and everything that was happening in my life. In four years, I went from weighing 82 kg to about 147.
After high school I went to college and continued with my unhealthy habits. A halfway through college, I decided to join a leadership program of Christian inspiration that emphasizes being physically, spiritually and emotionally healthy. Thus, every day, as part of the program, other students and I went on the slopes and have worked together on three to four times per week. Prior to this point, I only had not exercised at all. After two years with the program, I weighed 91 kg all around.

After completing the program, I eventually gain any weight back and more because I don't exercise and I ate the delicious cafeteria food all the time. I decided to try a weight loss program that sent me food in portions to eat, and it was effective. But I'm not looking to lose weight for myself, I am most of the time to do it for my family and friends who were concerned about me. After about a year on the plan, I would be lost 36 kg, but I've given up. I don't like eating the same things all the time, and I missed food aid as a coping mechanism. It wasn't long after that I gained it all back.
The change
when I went to grad school after college, I weighed approximately 388 pounds. My family and my friends were on my case to get again in good health, but I strut me engage. Then one day, I felt my heart race very, very fast for no reason. I still don't know if it was caused by an attack of panic or my weight, but I had to go to the emergency room and having my heart stopped and restarted. It was so scary. I knew I had to do something.
About six months after that incident, I found a Groupon for boxing as boxing lessons. I always wanted it try boxing as a stress relief and to work on some of my emotions, but I never had. So I went to the gym and made my first class, which was incredibly hard. But I signed up for a membership on the same day. I was ready.
After the signing, I started taking courses in group three to four times per week. I loved the support of others in my class. It was very motivating. A few weeks after I started working, I had a session with a personal trainer who has taught me a little more about nutrition. We have a plan that focuses on food, 40 per cent of protein, 30 percent of fat, and 30 percent of carbohydrates, which had all come from healthy sources, which meant that I had to learn how to cook.
I thought that keep a watchful eye on everything I ate was time. I had to spend more time at the grocery store picking healthy food, and I had to measure everything I put in my meals. I kept track of everything with the MyFitnessPal application. Although it was tedious and took a few hours of my weekend, the weight began to come off very quickly. In addition, as I walked into a routine, I started to prepare and cook my meals much faster.

The most frustrating part was to hit a plateau, and it happened to me a few times. When he did, I knew I had to change something. So, I went to kickboxing, boxing, and other classes of training three or four times a week to hit the gym five or six times. Then I added in weightlifting in my routine.
Two years I lost over 90 kg and my weight is now 80 kg.
The reward
I love that I am able to work as much as I do. For me, the exercise has replaced binge eating as a form of stress relief. As a result, confidence has skyrocketed; I'm a much happier person now. Today, my size is not what keeps me whatsoever. Something as simple as going to the bathroom is easier because I don't have to hope it is a stall disabled for me to use. I am also able to purchase a ticket or to ride a roller coaster without worrying that I won't be able to hold in the seat.
Desiree tips
consistency is essential. It was really difficult to stay with my new exercise habits and eat, but forcing myself to keep doing things that were good for me helped me to see the results I wanted.
Find a workout that you like. Another reason for my success is that I was the exercise in a way that I couldn't get enough of. I really fed up out of energy from others in my classes, and it made me welcome the exercise instead of dreading it.
Made you friends with people who have the same goals as you. Find people at the gym who were also trying to live a healthy life is the biggest difference. It is so nice to have a support system of people who are on the same track you. You can share recipes or talk about issues you share.
